The ONLY green smoothie I make

the only green smoothie I makeGreen drinks are something that I have a love – hate relationship with, usually leaning more towards the hate side.  I usually say that I prefer to eat my greens, not drink them but that’s before I came up with the only tolerable green drink (in my opinion).  I have had some tasty green drinks out at local juice establishments but it pains me to have to pay between $6-10 for each one.  I’ve had many people send me there favorites recipes (and I do still encourage that) but this is the only one that actually tastes like an all fruit smoothies, one that I could close my eyes and imagine laying on a beach with (maybe with a splash of rum!).  If you are like me and don’t believe that veggies belong in your cup, then try this one.  This tropical beauty may finally sway you.

Put the following in your blender-

  • 1 peeled banana (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 handfuls of greens (spinach, kale, or chard.  Nothing too bitter.)
  • 1 handful of frozen pineapple
  • 1 handful of frozen mango
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon flax seeds
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds

the only green smoothie I makeAdd as much liquid (half orange juice, half water) as you need to blend to your desired consistensy.

This smoothie also has a great balance of healthy fats, protein, and fiber, making it very filling and energizing.  I, myself, do not own a juicer.  I’m a smoothie-girl (for now at least), and like to get that extra fiber when I can.

    This sounds yummy – I usually add half a lime and/or grapefruit if it’s in season for some zing, too! Any way I can get more greens into my diet in a delicious way is great!
