This really works

Sarah-3760As life gets busy and things get crazy, I’m reminded how much my yoga practice means to me.  Yes, it’s something that makes me feel good and maintains my health.  It’s all those things that fall under health, fitness, stretching, breathing, etc.  You know the list.

My favorite greens and what to do with them

kaleI’m not going to lecture you on the importance of having leafy greens in your diet.  Let’s just say that they deserve to have their own food group.  Have you ever wondered what’s all the fuss about those trendy green drinks?  Well, drinking your greens is just another way of getting them into your body.  They’re so good for you that you need to get them in your system one way or another.  Me, I prefer More

This holiday season’s best gift

FullSizeRenderWhy’s everyone freaking out?  Yup, it’s holiday season again.  I love this time of year and being a part of all the magical fun that the kids enjoy makes it even better.  One thing I don’t love is that everyone seems to be carrying around a Jupiter sized stress ball.  So much to do, so little time.

Whether you have travel plans, meal planning to do, endless parties to attend, or excited children to manage; we More

Getting a toddler excited about yoga

FullSizeRenderThrough months (although it seems like years) of trying to get my toddler son to do yoga with me, I feel as though I have finally discovered a way to get him to be excited about practicing with me.  I have put a lot of theories through the trial and error process and just one seems to work.  I’ve mainly been focusing my time on practicing ‘in front of’ (not always ‘with’) him in hopes that he’ll want to mimic what Mommy’s doing.

This only seems to work sometimes and the times that it does, he usually only joins me for a few minutes and then wanders back to his Hotwheels collection.  Ironically, after giving much thought and effort into ‘yoga’ing’ with my toddler, it was something More

You’re right. Here’s why THIS is the best daily practice.

FullSizeRenderEveryone talks about it, you may already be doing it.  You can write it down, talk about it, or simply think it.  However you choose to practice it, expressing gratitude is a wonderful thing to do each and every day.

“Make an attitude to be in gratitude.  You will find the whole universe will come to you.” -Yogi Bhajan

It’s about that time of year when we start talking about what we’re thankful for, but why not make it something we think about throughout the rest of the year.  Practicing gratitude fosters happiness and healing.  Can’t we all use some of that?!

3 tips to always have perfect posture

100_5515You can learn a lot about people based on how they carry themselves- mood, attitude, emotional state, self confidence, physical strength, health and well-being.  As a society, we usually think of elderly people or people in poor health as those with rounded hunched over posture but in our current technology and automobile driven culture, we all seem to be a little More

Eat cake with me

For my birthday this year, I’ll be eating cake.  That almost made it sound like I don’t eat cake every year for my birthday!  Of course, I enjoy birthdays and their celebrations to the fullest of my abilities (as long as I don’t have 364 friends celebrating every other day of the year).

My new favorite things to put in smoothies

the only green smoothie I makeYes, I know that I talk about smoothies all the time.  The thing is, I love my energy boosting, hunger satisfying drinks.  I’ve even made them a daily part of my kids’ diets.  I even serve guests my favorite green smoothie to try to get them hooked too.  I’m all about it.  What better way to give yourself fruits, veggies, protein, and healthy fat all at one time?  They’re vegan, dairy free, gluten free, whatever- they fit into any diet.  Just don’t get me started on those people who ‘don’t like vegetables’ and won’t even try my fruit tasting concoctions.  They make me want to cue my 3 year old into singing Daniel Tiger’s “Try new things they might tast gooo-oooooood”. How to keep it interesting

useWhen I’ve been at something for a long time, no matter what it is, it eventually gets stale.  Fun things can start to feel like work.  Even with my yoga practice, something that is usually the best part of my day, can sometimes feel like just something on the to-do list.  Usually when my practice starts to get ‘same old, same old’, it’s because I haven’t taken a new class in awhile (whether that’s in person or online).  It’s easy to get into a rut of practicing the same routine over and over again. I get so used to doing what I want that it’s actually nice to, More
